Sub Compact SUV battle: KIA Sonet Vs NISSAN Magnite
The sub-compact SUV market segment in India has been highly in demand and extensively competitive. The launch of Kia Sonet and Nissan Magnite has disrupted the sub-compact SUV segment in India. Both the cars are almost similar in length, wheelbase size but differ slightly in terms of the width and the boot space.
The Nissan Magnite has a striking sporty design with large grills, L-shaped LED DRLs, projector headlamps, and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels Kia Sonet on the other hand, levels up the sportiness of the car in its GT -line variant. It features LED tail lights which are missing on the Nissan Magnite which comes with the standard set of halogen units.
The GT -line variant of KIA Sonet which comes with an all-round red accent looks much more appealing in terms of the design in the sub-compact SUV segment cars.
Interior and Features comparison
The Magnite and Sonet, both offer a premium feel with soft-touch materials in the interior of the car, which looks very appealing. The Nissan Magnite comes with an 8-inch touch screen system integrated with Apple car play and Android auto, JBL sound system, tyre pressure monitoring system, and many others. The KIA Sonet in comparison has the BOSE sound system, ventilated seats, electric sunroof, traction control modes, and many others. The KIA Sonet does have a stand out interior look in comparison to the NISSAN Magnite.
Engine Specification comparison
Nissan Magnite comes with a two variant petrol engine option, whereas the KIA Sonet comes with three variants – 2 petrol and 1 diesel engine option. The engine specification of both cars is significant, but Sonet offers better power and torque than the Magnite.
The safety features in both Magnite and Sonet are very much enhanced and advanced. The standard variant of the Nissan Magnite offers a speed alert system, reverse parking system, ABS, EBD, dual front airbags, and many more. However, the high-end variant includes the 360- degree view, hill start assists, and traction control. The base variant of Sonet offers almost the same features as that of the Magnite, whereas the high-end variant offers extensive features like electronic stability control, speed alert system, front parking sensors, six airbags, and the vehicle stability management system.

The manufacturer claimed fuel efficiencies show that the KIA Sonet is 0.6 kmpl more efficient than the NISSAN Magnite, but the real-world fuel efficiencies are still yet to be captured as the gearboxes installed are not the most efficient ones in the market and may show some deviation in actual.
The NISSAN Magnite had been launched initially with the price tag that the compact SUV is priced below Rs. 5 lakhs, but this is only the introductory price. The current price of Magnite ranges from Rs. 5.54 lakh to Rs. 9.35 lakh (ex-showroom price), whereas the price range of KIA Sonet ranges from 6.71 lakh to Rs. 13 lakhs (ex-showroom price).
Magnite is a budget-priced compact SUV with significant features and a sporty look. Sonet being more expensive than Magnite gives more premiumness, which is a better choice and definitely worth the price if the budget can be increased.
